Further Studies?
Well, after NS, most guys would go for further studies, wouldn't they? I would have been in SMU now if i had been selected but unfortunately that does not happen. I have been exploring the uni courses in Kaplan lately, but that does not seems to spark any tinge of interest until i learnt that my fellow temp working friend is studying ACCA. Ok, i have heard it before, but just that no one really tell me what the course is really about. He himself shares with me what his experience in ACCA is like and it is not really just about accounting. Finance is also part of it. Well, he is finishing soon and he seems to cope well. He shares with me all relevant ACCA information and when i saw his booklet of lectures n tutorials on taxation, somehow somewhere it brought upon a rush of unimaginable adrenaline through my blood veins.
Meanwhile i also been to www.accaglobal.com and check for some extra details. Surprisingly, i wonder if some of my ex-BIT course mates even know if ACCA will be able to grant them 2 subjects for exemption instead of 1 which the current batch of BIT graduates will be able to get. This is quite a good deal considering that accounting students able to get 3 exemptions and that it appears that i have some accounting n finance interest within me. So with this, should i take up this challenge or not? With the exemptions, it will take me around 1.5yrs to complete if i study with utmost concentration. It is rather flexible too in timetable n exam planning. I shall make a decision soon as deadline for dec exams is pretty near. I can still work in other better paid temp job as i can choose between day n night lessons. So, shall i make this unique move or continue to look at other courses? Shall blog about my decision in due time, so meantime let me enjoy my 'internship' in SPH... hehe

Well... week 1 in SPH quite well...
Working in SPH is not that bad somehow in terms of accessibility to reach there. I only need $2.36 for two way trip to reach aljunied mrt to take company bus which is rather big to genting lane and then back to simei mrt after work. Anyway, i can even read the new paper at lunch time for free. lol. Anyway, here's the pros and cons to work there...
Pros+1.Transport to company from aljunied or toa payoh mrt station provided.
2.My department itself has a lot of sub departments working together in same unit.
3.If u got comp, accessibility to internet is no prob including msn. For temp staff, no com as yet...
4.Colleagues helpful and friendly. This is most important as from wat i know alot of perm staffs hav work for quite long already.
5.Happy atmostphere in office all day long... eg.staffs in various sections get along with each other in same office unit easily.
6.Enjoy receiving small freebies from time to time...
Cons1.Food variety not much but still satisfactory.
2.Office little noisy but their conversations quite interesting at times. oops...
3.Temp staffs work dun seems to be as interesting as other perm staffs'.
Ok, for now there seems to be alot of pros over cons for me so i should be rather contented already. Anyway, one of the temp staffs might be leaving. So any of my friends interested in replacing him cos he needs replacement badly but the person replacing him must be working for his remaining 2.75months though. Hard to find i guess as most are studying in these periods. Oh well... time for a rest...
A steely resolve is all u need to fend urselves from claws of evil.

1st working day at SPH
Travelling to the new work place is surprisingly easy. All thanks to it being near Aljunied MRT n there's even a shuttle bus to my workplace. It took only 30minutes, approx. 8mins walk to mrt, 15mins on mrt and 7mins on shuttle bus... Amazing as there's no road congestion along the way.
Well, i reckon people would have tot work in SPH cannot be any tougher. But I found out from my own eyes that behind ur daily feed of freshly printed newspaper/magazines, lots of manual planning goes behind it. Technology wise i reckon if is implemented full scale, can actually cut down substantial warehouse printing wastages but of course massive data will probably be stored and probably required a real time warehouse inventory system. Hmmm, really need to think hard as it is not easy when u hav big printing business like this. Haha...
Ok, basically even in my admin side, there is a routine every day. Sure there are alot of admin work to do, but if there's no one doing their part, do u really think u can get ur newspaper early in the day? Jus for ur info, i am in the circulation dept. It is indeed an interesting thing to know but u really needs dedication to get things done. Afterall, no work by my department means nothing being delivered to ur nearest shop. Though it may seems that i mayb doing repetitive work for 3 months, it is still an achievement considering that i have helped indirectly to despatch the printed stuffs smoothly to the whole of Singapore.
Ok, tml my 2nd day, looking forward to learn more...
Jus focus on wat u want to achieve and u shall get it right one day.
